Eighth Place Showing at Austin Peay

DICKSON, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team finished in eighth place at this week's APSU Intercollegiate held at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.

On a sunny and cool October Tuesday in the Midstate, the Bruins posted their best round of the week, a 295, to finish in eighth place with a 54-hole mark of 898.  UT-Martin and Missouri State tied for the team title as each finished at 873.

Three Belmont golfers finished among the top-30.  Sophomore Nate Thomson posted his first top-10 finish of the season.  The Greendale, Wisconsin native carded a two-under par 70 to finish in a tie for sixth place at 215.  He finished five shots behind medalist Austin Knight of Murray State.

Junior Daniel Booker turned in a one-under par 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 16th place at 220.  It was his second top-20 finish of the season.  Freshman Evan Davis, competing as an individual, had the low round of the day for BU as he shot a three-under 69 to finish in a tie for 27th place at 223.  His 69 is tied for the second lowest on the team this fall.

Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: senior Logan Matthews (T-63, 233), sophomore McCullough Pickens (T66th, 235), and freshman Jack Uselton (T-68, 237).

Two other Bruins competed as individuals: freshman Bogle LaRue tied for 52nd at 231, while sophomore Win Temple tied for 54th at 232.

The men's golf team is back in action next Monday and Tuesday, October 23-24, at the Pinetree Intercollegiate in Kennesaw, Georgia.
