PINEHURST, N. C. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in ninth place after round one of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate held Friday at Pinehurst #8 Course in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The Bruins carded a first round score of 297 on Friday to finish the day in ninth place. Ball State has the team lead at 297, while Dayton is in second at 298.
Belmont has two golfers among the top-20 after 18 holes. Sophomore Nate Thomson is tied for seventh place after carding a two-over par 73 on Friday. He is two shots behind individual leader Michael VanDeventer of Ball State (71). Freshman Evan Davis is two shots back and in a tie for 18th place at 75.
Freshman Bogle LaRue is competing as an individual and is tied for 80th after posting an 87.
Round two will begin Saturday morning at 7:00am CT. Belmont will go off hole #10 from 7:00-7:36.
