Ninth Place Finish

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team finished tied for ninth at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate held this week at Nashville's Richland Country Club.

On a beautiful, sunny Tuesday in Nashville, the Bruins posted a 304 in the final round to finish in a tie for ninth place at 599 with Omaha.  USC Upstate won the team title with a score of 573, while Southern Miss was second at 576.

Two Bruins finished among the top-15.  Freshman Coleman Jones, competing as an individual, carded an even par 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for seventh place at 142.  The Franklin, Tennessee native finished five shots behind individual medalist, Brian Richards of Southern Miss (137).    It was Jones' first collegiate top-10 finish. 

Senior Daniel Booker shot a one under par 70 finish in a tie for 13th place at 144.  It was Booker's sixth top-20 finish of the season.

Other Belmont scores from the event included: senior Noah Trenkler (T-38, 152), sophomore Jack Uselton (T-38, 152), sophomore Bogle LaRue (T-47, 153), and sophomore Evan Davis (T-52, 154).

Two other Bruins competed as individuals.  Senior Parker Buck finished tied for 73rd place at 159, while junior Brendan Lewis tied for 81st place at 163. 

The men's golf team has a couple of weeks off before returning to the course on April 21-23 at the OVC Championship in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
