MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Belmont men's golf team dropped to second place after the second round of the OVC Championship held this week on the Fighting Joe Course at the RTJ Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

After seeing lots of birdies fall on Monday, the Bruins struggled to score on Tuesday.  After having 23 birdies on day one, BU had just 15 in round two.  By the end of the round, BU had posted a team score of 289 to finish the day in second place at 564. (-12).  They were five shots behind leader Jacksonville State (559) and five ahead of third place Austin Peay (569). 

Three Bruins are among the top-12 after 36 holes.  Sophomore Evan Davis is alone in second place at 137.  The Lexington, Kentucky native carded a two under par 70 on Tuesday.  He is two shots behind the individual leader, Jesus Montenegro of Jacksonville State. 

Senior Daniel Booker is four shots back on Davis and in a tie for ninth at 141.  He posted a one over par 73 in round two.  Fellow senior Noah Trenkler shot a 74 to put him in a tie for 11th place at 142.

Freshman Coleman Jones is tied for 20th at 145, while sophomore Jack Uselton is tied for 40th at 152. 

The third and final round of the championship will begin Wednesday morning at 8:00am.  Belmont will play with JSU and Austin Peay in pairings that tee off from 10:30-11:10am.
