NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's soccer head coach Bryan Green announced Tuesday the addition of two student-athletes to the Bruin program.
Clarke, an experienced defender, played 18 matches the past two seasons for Elizabethtown College, coincidentally Green's alma mater. Clarke was an all-conference prep standout in Maryland, playing club soccer for Baltimore Bays.
"Nick is a solid defender that will give us athleticism, experience, and toughness in the backline," Green said. "Having been a part of Elizabethtown College's program, I know he has been coached extremely well and will be able to compete for a spot right away. His experience and maturity will also be valuable as we continue to build the program both on and off the field."
Page, a heralded goalkeeper, emerged as one of the top netminders in the state of Wisconsin last season. Page surrendered only 15 goals in his high school career, and only dropped two decisions as a senior. He provides stability along with returning letterwinner Grayson Rector.
"We are thrilled to add Clark to our program," Green said. "He is a quality goalkeeper with some excellent intangibles that will put him in the mix for playing time right away. His confidence and presence in goal will strengthen us defensively. Clark is also good with his feet, which will allow our backs to play through him as we build the game."
Belmont opens the 2015 campaign Aug. 28 versus Lipscomb.
