Final Road Test

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University men's soccer team hits the road for their final road match of the regular season on Saturday. 

The Belmont Bruins (5-7-2) will take on the Oakland Phoenix (6-4-3) for a Horizon League matchup at 7:00 p.m. CT.

BU is coming off a 1-0 loss to Oakland last Saturday.  Belmont had many offensive chances in the match, but were unable to convert. The Golden Grizzlies scored in the 86th minute which would prove to be the game winner. 

Career Outing

Freshman Nicolo Dini (Settala, Italy) is coming off a breakout game on Saturday.  Dini recorded a career-high 10 saves against Oakland. 

Exciting Offense

Belmont continues to be consistent in the attacking third finding many offensive chances in every outing.  The Bruins lead the Horizon League in corner kicks per game with 6.29, a mark that is the 17th best in the NCAA.  Belmont has taken 88 corner kicks and held their opponents to 65.

Belmont will look to get back on the scoreboard in Green Bay. Last Saturday was the first time in five outings that the squad didn't score. The Bruins had scored in four straight games before their loss to the Golden Grizzlies. 

Consistent Defense

Belmont's back line has been an invaluable asset to the Bruins' squad this season.  Belmont is second in the Horizon League in team saves per game (4.29) and are third in the conference in team save percentage (0.759).

Scouting the Phoenix

Head Coach Jeremy Bonomo is in his third season at the helm of the Green Bay men's soccer program.  Green Bay currently sits atop the Horizon League with a conference record of 5-1-1.  The Phoenix have the number one scoring offense in the league and average the second most assists per game (1.54) and points per game (4.77).  Green Bay has recorded 62 points this season on 21 goals and 20 assists.  The Phoenix have taken 52 corner kicks to their opponents 48.

Players to Watch

Redshirt senior Audi Jepson leads the Green Bay high-octane offense.  He leads the Horizon League in game-winning goals (3), goals per game (0.73), points per game (1.91), and total points (21).  Jepson has scored eight goals and tallied five assists on the season.

Last Time Out

Last Sunday Green Bay traveled to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on Horizon League Foe IUPUI.  Green Bay defeated IUPUI 2-0. Jepson and Andre Baires scored the Phoenix's two goals.

Series Breakdown

The programs are tied at 1-1-1 all-time.  Last season the squads played to a double overtime scoreless draw at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville, Tenn.
