NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont men's soccer closed out its preseason slate with a 2-1 loss to the Bradley Braves Saturday afternoon at E.S. Rose Park.
The game opened up early with the first two goals being scored in the first five minutes. Bradley got on the board first after a defensive miscue ended up in an own goal by Belmont in the 3'. The Bruins' didn't let that discourage them, putting together a beautiful attack just 15 seconds later to equalize things at 1-1.
The Bruins held possession throughout much of the remainder of the first period and had several good looks in the offensive third but were not able to finish and find the back of the net.
Bradley came out of the halftime break with a vengeance, launching several attacks, but the Belmont defense held strong. The Braves were able to find what would prove to be the game winner in the 67' after slotting one past the Belmont keeper.
Although Belmont peppered several shots and promising attacks in the waning minutes, the Bruins were unable to find the equalizer.
Belmont will hit the pitch on Friday, August 24 for their first regular season action as they make the short trek down the boulevard to take on Lipscomb. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. CT.
