WILMINGTON, N.C. – Belmont University men's soccer dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 13 UNC Wilmington Saturday night at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
UNC Wilmington proved to be the aggressor early, scoring the first goal of the match in the 16thminute. Just minutes later, the Seahawks scored two more, one each in the 18thand 19thminute to take a 3-0 lead.

The sides were even with four shots each in the first half. Sophomore keeper Nicolo Dini (Settala, Italy) made two key saves in the half to keep the deficit manageable for the BU.
After the halftime break, Belmont continued to settle in and had increased possession and offensive opportunities while holding strong defensively. After 13 minutes of scoreless play, UNCW netted its fourth goal in the 58thminute. UNCW tacked on the fifth and final goal in the 78thminute.
Dini was an important part to the Belmont defense in the second half, making six saves. Freshman Cameron Petty (Franklin, Tenn.) also saw time between the pipes and made one save. The Bruins finished the night with five shots and four corner kicks.
