Tough fight against Paladins

NASHVILLE, Tenn.– The Belmont men's tennis team lost 4-3 against Furman University Saturday night at Centennial Sports Complex. 

The Bruins grabbed an early lead against the Paladins winning both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic defeated Jake Bhangdia and Jake Munns 6-4 while,Joan Valy and Jake Briggs defeated Ivan MitricJames Roelofse 6-2. 

In singles, the Bruins took wins in the top two spots ultimately falling to the Paladins by one. Marko Ilic defeated Ivan Mitric 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 at the one and Hendrik Inno defeated Clarke Wilson 6-2, 6-4 at the two. 

Up next for the Bruins includes a full weekend schedule. Up first is a home match against Grand Canyon University on Feb. 8 followed by an away match at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga on Feb. 9. Rounding it out will be a cross town matchup against The Commodores at Vanderbilt University on Feb. 10.
