CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.– The Belmont men's tennis team defeated APSU, 5-2, in Clarksville, Tenn. Saturday afternoon. The win allowed the Bruins to earn a share of the regular season title.
In doubles play, the Bruins took wins a No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to give them the win. Hendrik Inno and Zak Khan defeated Almantas Ozelis and Anton Damberg 6-2 at No. 1 and Marko Ilic and Jake Briggs defeated Christian Edison and Timo Kiesslich 6-2.
In singles, Belmont won all four of the matches to clinch the win for the Bruins making this the fourth straight conference win for the men. At No. 1, Inno defeated Ozelis 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2 Ilic defeated Edison 6-2, 7-5, at No. 4 Vincent Sterkens defeated Kiesslich 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, and at No. 5 Briggs defeated Jacob Lorino 6-3, 6-4.
The match against the Governors was the final match of the spring season before heading into conference championships. Brackets for the OVC Championship will be released on Sunday.
