Ready for the National Stage

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont's men's tennis doubles duo of Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic begin their quest for a national championship as they open play at the NCAA Tennis Championships on Tuesday evening at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. 

In their first round match, they will face McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale of Florida.  Kessler/Vale, who advanced to the NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals last year, are currently ranked #19 in ITA Doubles Rankings, but have not played together since March 31.  For the season, they have a record of 8-8, with most of the matches occurring in the fall season.   The winner will face either UCLA's Maxime Cressy and Keegan Smith or Old Dominion's Aziz Kijametovic or Francois Musitelli in the second round on Wednesday.  

Inno and Ilic are currently ranked #32 in the latest ITA Doubles Rankings, will represent the OVC as one of 13 automatic qualifiers.  19 at-large selections rounded out the field of 32.  For the season, the duo is 19-6 and posted an OVC mark of 2-0.  They won the ITA Ohio Valley Regional title last October and played in the ITA Fall National Doubles Championship last November. Each was named to the All-OVC First Team.  

They are the just the second OVC doubles team to reach the NCAA Championship since 2000, joining EKU's Alex Alvaro and Ramon van Flyman, who competed in 2016. 

Tuesday's match is set for 6:30pm CT on Court #5 at USTA National Campus.  Parts of the match may be televised nationally on The Tennis Channel.  Live streaming video of the match can be found here.
