ORLANDO, Fla. — The Belmont duo of Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic saw their postseason run end on Wednesday as they fell in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championship held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The pair fell to #2 seed Maxime Cressy and Keegan Smith of UCLA in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
In the first set, the West Coast Bruins took control early and cruised to the 6-2 set victory. In the second set, the Music City Bruins kept it close early, tying it at 3-3. However, Cressy and Smith took the next game and then cruised to 6-3 win and the match victory.
Inno and Ilic finished their historic season with a record 21-7 and set several new standards for Belmont tennis, becoming the first doubles duo to be ranked in the ITA Rankings, the first doubles duo to win a ITA regional title, and the first Belmont tennis players to compete in the NCAA doubles championship.
