Continued Success at MTSU

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University men's track and field team completed another successful meet at the MTSU invitational on Saturday in Murfreesboro.

The Bruins boasted 10 top 10 finishes at MTSU led by the second place finish and personal record performance in the shot put by senior Sean Magnuson (Mokena, Ill.) with a throw of 15.77m. Sophomore Corey Claiborne (Alpharetta, Ga.) placed third in the event.

Belmont had a successful day in the weight throw with second, third, and fourth place finishes led by senior Del McSpadden (Brentwood, Tenn.).

Senior Jacob Spalding (Franklin, Tenn.) contributed to the Bruins' overall success by recording a second place finish in the high jump.

On the track, Matt Dsida (Winnetka, Ill.) finished in eighth place in the 800 meter run.

"The men's throws squad did very well today. Sean is coming around with his competition mentality, and Del had an awesome series of far throws.  Both Stephen and Corey are back on track with what we are trying to do in aiming for OVC Indoor Conference at the end of February, and the team as a whole is looking really good going into our final meet next weekend," said Assistant Coach Joe Frye.

The Bruins will be back in action Feb. 10-11 at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
