Friday at the Track

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's track and field saw some success during the first day of the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Meet at the Vanderbilt Track Complex in Nashville.

Overall, nine Bruins earned top-15 finishes during Friday's action. 

In the hammer throw, sophomore Ryan Sheldon was ninth with a mark of 48.60m, while freshman Reece Davidson was 14th at 43.94m. 

In the shot put, senior Stephen Gibson was 10th with a mark of 14.34m, while Davidson was 11th at 14.25m.

On the track, senior Luke Evans finished fourth with a time of 15:08.05, while sophomore Jackson Vroon was 11th at 15:16.19.

In the 1500 meters, junior Ben Weisel placed seventh with a time of 3:52.24, while teammate Jacob McLeod was 11th at 3:54.16. 

Day two of the meet will begin Saturday morning at 10:00am with the field events.
