NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University track and field athletes Bo Miller and Karly Hibbard have garnered Ohio Valley Conference Athlete of the Week honors the league announced Wednesday.
Freshman Bo Miller (Lawrence, Kan.) earned Male Athlete of the Week honors after his impressive performance at the Hilltopper Relays this weekend. Miller earned a first place finish in the javelin with a throw of 57.68 meters. The personal record throw was the best javelin throw by a Belmont athlete since 2015 and the furthest throw in the OVC this season by more than 22 feet. The victory marked Miller's first event victory of his collegiate career.
Fellow thrower senior Karly Hibbard (Edmond, Wash.) earned Female Athlete of the Week honors this week after another stellar performance in the javelin at the Hilltopper Relays. Her season best throw of 45.48 meters was the best throw in the OVC this season by nearly five feet and the 35thbest throw in the NCAA East Region this season. Her throw beat the next competitor by six full feat. Hibbard also notched a top five finish in the shot put with a season best throw of 13.00 meters, the fifth best mark in the conference this season.
The men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action, competing in the Governors Invitational this weekend in Clarksville, Tenn.
