Women's Golf Stands 3rd after First Round of the UAB Fall Beach Blast

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in third place after round one of the UAB Fall Beach Blast held Monday at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The Bruins posted a season-best 298 in Monday's first round to finish the day in third place.  They are three shots behind tournament leader Austin Peay (295) and one shot behind second place Tulsa (297).

Two BU golfers rank among the top-five.  Junior Sydney Hudson and freshman Abbie Gregory each carded a one-over par 73 on Monday to put them in a tie for fourth place with four other golfers.  They are three shots behind individual leader Tala Munford of Austin Peay.

Junior Evin Edens and freshman Megan Heath are tied for 26th place after each shot a four-over par 76 in round one.  Senior Shay Sullivan is tied for 50th place after she posted an 80 (+8). 

Freshman Alexi Bevans, competing as an individual, shot a 76 on Monday and is tied for 26th place.

The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning with a 8:00am shotgun start.
