Women's Golf Places Second in Saturday's Tri-Match

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team finished second in their tri-match with Murray State and Austin Peay held Saturday afternoon at Hampton Cove Golf Course in Huntsville, Alabama.

Belmont shot a team score of326 on Saturday to finish in second place, seven shots behind Murray State (319), but seven shots ahead of third place Austin Peay (333).

The Bruins were led by freshman Abbie Gregory, who finished in a tie for third place after carding an eight-over par 80.  Junior Sydney Hudson finished in sixth after shooting an 81, while senior Shay Sullivan was one shot back of Hudson in seventh place with an 82.  Other Belmont scores from Saturday included: freshman Megan Heath (T-8th, 83) and junior Evin Edens (T-12th, 85).  Freshman Alexi Bevans competed as an individual and finished 15th with a score of 90. 

Murray State was led by individual medalist Delaney Howson, who shot a four-over 76.  Austin Peay was paced by Jessica Cathey, who carded a seven-over par 79. 

The women's golf team now begins preparations for the OVC Championship.  This year's championship will be held April 21-23 at The Fighting Joe Golf Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
