Fifth Place Start in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team is in fifth place after day one of the ASPU Intercollegiate held Monday at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.

On a day that saw all kinds of weather – clouds, sun, light rain, storms, humidity – Belmont stayed consistent, posted rounds of 316 and 315 to finish the day in fifth place with a mark of 631.  ULM has the team lead at 599, while Murray State is second at 603.

Leading the way for the Bruins on day one was senior Emma Kate Liu.  The senior from Dallas, Texas carded rounds of 76 and even par 72 to finish the day in third place at 148.  She is five shots behind the leader, Jahaanvie Walia of ULM.  Liu's second round 72 was one of four rounds of par or better on Monday. 

Other Belmont scores from day one included: freshmen Cameron Fish (T-32, 160), freshman Katelyn Dunstan (T-36, 161), sophomore Maribeth Peevy (T-38, 162), and junior Carlee Nanney (T-48, 169).

Two Bruins competed as individuals.  Freshman Courtney Bryant is tied for 38th place at 162, while junior Julia Nittoli is in 44th place at 166.  Sophomore Ann Catherine Blackburn withdrew due to an injury.
