Fifth Place at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Led by senior Emma Kate Liu's third place showing, the Belmont women's golf team finished in fifth place at this week's APSU Intercollegiate held at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.

After enduring a 90 minute delay to start the final round, the Bruins posted their lowest round of week, a 307, to finish in fifth place with a score of 938.  Murray State won the team title with a mark of 893, while ULM was second at 905.

Senior Emma Kate Liu led BU as she carded a one over 73 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for third place at 223.   She finished six shots behind the medalist, Jahaanvie Walia of ULM.  It was her second straight top-10 finish and her best showing since she placed second at the UAB Fall Beach Blast in 2015.

Freshman Katelyn Dunstan bounced back from a tough first day to shoot a one-over 73 in the final round to finish the event tied for 24th at 234.  It was her second straight top-25 finish of the season. 

Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: freshman Cameron Fish (33rd, 240), sophomore Maribeth Peevy (T-34, 241), and junior Carlee Nanney (T-46, 251).

Two Bruins competed as individuals.  Freshman Courtney Bryant finished in 40th place at 244, while junior Julia Nittoli placed 44th at 247.

The women's golf team is off for a couple of weeks before returning to action on October 15-16 at the MAC Fall Preview in Noblesville, Indiana.
