NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Softball hosts its final OVC home doubleheaders this weekend at Rose Park. The Bruins (22-15, 3-7 OVC) welcome Murray State (10-30, 0-10 OVC) on Friday squaring off against in-state rival Austin Peay (25-15, 8-4 OVC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Racers come to Nashville in the midst of an eight game skid to stand at 10-30 overall and 0-10 in conference play. MSU is led at the plate by Brenna Fink, who is batting .3212 with 39 hits, 11 doubles, two triples and 17 RBI.
Inside the circle, Haven Campbell leads the way, logging 96.2 innings to the tune of a 3.48 ERA with 55 strikeouts and a 6-9 record.
Murray State leads the all-time series, 12-5. One year ago, the series was cut short due to weather but the Racers won the first game, 8-0, in six innings.
The Governors have only one of their last five outings to stand at 25-15 overall and 8-4 in league play. APSU is led at the plate by Danielle Liermann, who is batting .398 with 45 hits, eight doubles, 15 homeruns and 44 RBI.
Morgan Rackel has done the lion's share of the work inside the circle, tossing 128.0 innings with 147 strikeouts, a 1.75 ERA with a 13-6 record.
Belmont narrowly leads the all-time series, 22-21-2. The teams split one year ago in Clarksville.
Belmont has four batters hitting over .300, led by senior Lexi Rouse (Macon, Ga.), batting .356 with eight homeruns, 36 hits, nine doubles, a triple and 24 RBI. Classmate Jess Andree (Darien, Ill.) follows, sporting a .336 batting average with 38 hits, five doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 23 RBI. Junior Taylor Hargrove (Greenbrier, Tenn.) is right behind them both, batting .316 with 18 hits and a pair of RBI.
Inside the circle, sophomore Brooklin Lee (Burns, Tenn.) remains the Bruins' ace, tossing 138.1 innings, recording a whopping 162 strikeouts to the tune of a 1.77 ERA and a 12-7 record with eight shutouts. Rouse sports a 6-1 record and a 2.98 ERA after tossing 47.0 innings with 18 strikeouts. Freshman Alicia Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.) rounds out the pitching corps, throwing 63.1 innings to the tune of a 2.76 ERA, a 4-7 record and 50 strikeouts.
Friday's first pitch against Murray State is slated for 3 p.m. while Saturday's games are set for Noon start. Live stats will be available for both.
