NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Softball will have back-to-back midweek games for the first time this season. On Tuesday evening, the Bruins (19-14, 2-6 OVC) will host No. 22 Ole Miss (24-9) at E.S. Rose Park before traveling south to face off against Samford (15-23) on Wednesday night.
No. 22 Ole Miss will look to extend its winning streak to three games when it travels to Nashville. The Rebels stand at 24-9 overall. They are led at the plate by Kylan Becker, who is batting .486 with 51 hits, a pair of doubles, six triples, one homerun and 18 RBI. Inside the circle, Molly Jacobson has thrown the lion's share, recording 93.2 innings of work. She has tallied 98 strikeouts, four shutouts, and three saves to the tune of a 1.35 ERA with a 10-2 record.
Samford stands at 15-23 overall after winnings four of its last five outings. The Bulldogs are led at the plate by Madison Couch, who is batting .321 with 35 hits, five doubles, one triple, six homeruns and 20 RBI. Inside the circle, Taylor DeCelles has thrown 78.1 innings to lead the team and tallied a team-high 34 strikeouts for a 3-9 record and a 5.00 ERA. Annalyn Yantis has notched 28 strikeouts over 60 innings of work to the tune of a 5.83 ERA and a 3-6 record.
BU stands at 19-14 overall after its first road trip for OVC play. Belmont has seven players batting over .300, led by senior Taylor Hargrove (Greenbrier, Tenn.) and sophomore Elison Ollinger (Robins, Iowa). Hargrove is batting .346 with nine hits and a triple while Ollinger is batting .344 with 11 hits, three doubles, one homerun and five RBI. Seniors Baylee Cook (Lewisburg, Tenn.) and Cameryn Strother (Chesapeake, Va.) round out the top half of the list. Cook, who is batting .330, has tallied a team-high 35 hits, five doubles, a trio of homeruns and 20 RBI while Strother has recorded 16 hits, one double, and three RBI to the tune of a .327 average.
Inside the circle, the Bruin pitching corps is led by sophomore Alicia Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.) and junior Brooklin Lee (Burns, Tenn.), who sport identical 1.90 ERAs and 9-6 records. Lee has rang up 103 strikeouts over 99.2 innings of work with 13 complete games while Veltri has 11 complete games under her belt with 91 batters fanned over 92.1 innings tossed.
