NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With a non-conference split in midweek action behind them, Belmont Softball returns to the road this weekend with a stop at Morehead State. The Bruins (20-15, 2-6 OVC) will take on the Eagles (2-25, 0-6 OVC) in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
Morehead State will look to snap an 11-game skid when it hosts Belmont this weekend. The Eagles stand at 2-25 overall and 0-6 in OVC play. MSU has four players batting over .250, led by Princess Valencia, who is batting .300 with 12 hits, a pair of doubles, a homerun and three RBI. Kalle Coleman and Peyton Slater are both batting .265. Inside the circle, Lakyn Largent has made 14 starts, throwing 57 innings, recording 20 strikeouts for a team-high 7.86 ERA with a 0-15 record.
BU stands at 20-15 overall and 2-6 in OVC games heading into this weekend's doubleheader. Belmont has six players batting over .300, led by senior Hayley Baker, who is batting .343 with 37 hits, 10 doubles, four homeruns and 29 RBI. Classmate Baylee Cook (Lewisburg, Tenn.) is right behind her batting .333, with 37 hits, five doubles, a trio of homeruns and 21 RBI while sophomore Elison Ollinger (Robins, Iowa), who is also batting .333 has tallied 12 hits, three doubles, one homerun and five RBI.
Inside the circle, the Bruin pitching corps is led by junior Brooklin Lee (Burns, Tenn.). She sports a 2.12 ERA after fanning 108 batters with three shutouts and a save for a 9-6 record. Sophomore Alicia Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.) has 11 complete games under her belt with 98 strikeouts recorded over 96.1 innings tossed for a 9-7 mark.
Saturday's doubleheader begins at 12:30 p.m. CT at Morehead State. Live stats will be available for both games.
