Last Conference Road Swing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Softball continues its final road swing of the regular season with a pair of doubleheaders on the road this weekend. The Bruins (26-19, 8-8 OVC) travel for games at Eastern Illinois (13-37, 3-15 OVC) on Friday and SIUE (15-20, 7-7 OVC) on Sunday.

EIU has won one contest out of its last five outings to stand at 13-37 overall and 3-15 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Panthers are led at the plate by Mia Davis, who is batting .310 with 45 hits, seven doubles, eight homeruns and 30 RBI. Megan Burton is batting .299 with 49 hits, 16 doubles, a pair of triples, five homeruns and 15 RBI. Inside the circle, Eastern Illinois has a pair splitting work. McKenna Coffman sports a 2.91 ERA with 41 strikeouts over 103.1 innings for a 4-11 record while Jade Montgomery has a 5.91 ERA with 60 strikeouts over 109 innings thrown for a 4-18 record.

SIUE will look to extend its recent win streak. The Cougars stand at 15-20 overall and 7-7 in OVC play. Kylie Lane leads the team at the plate, batting .412 with seven hits and an RBI. Alyssa Heren bats .371 with 39 hits, 15 doubles, one triple and 14 RBI. Inside the circle, Emily Ingles has the team's top ERA, coming in at .460 with 68 strikeouts over 80.2 innings for a 5-10 record. Corrina Rivas sports a .536 ERA after recording 57 strikeouts over 98 innings of work for an 8-9 record.

BU stands at 26-19 overall and 8-8 in OVC games after a late comeback fell shy in a neutral site game against No. 3 Alabama, falling 6-4. Belmont has eight players batting over .300, led by senior Baylee Cook (Lewisburg, Tenn.) who is batting .384 with 56 hits, seven doubles, a pair of triples, four homeruns and 32 RBI. Classmate Hayley Baker (Rockwall, Texas) follows, batting .358 with 49 hits, 14 doubles, six homeruns and 41 RBI. Senior Taylor Hargrove (Greenbrier, Tenn.) rounds out the team's hottest bats, hitting .355 with 11 hits, including one triple.

Inside the circle, the Bruin pitching corps is led by junior Brooklin Lee (Burns, Tenn.) and sophomore Alicia Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.). Veltri sports a 2.50 ERA after fanning 127 batters with four shutouts and a save for a 12-8 record. Lee has 15 complete games under her belt with 121 strikeouts recorded over 116.0 innings tossed for an 11-8 mark with a 2.53 ERA.

Friday's doubleheader at Eastern Illinois begins at 4 p.m. while the games at SIUE on Sunday are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Live stats will be available for all contests.
