NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- For only the second time in program history, a Belmont Softball player has been named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Tournament Team. Senior Chelsea Thomas (Hot Springs, Ark.) was named a member of the elite list at the conclusion of the 2019 Tournament.
Thomas follows in the footsteps of alumna Chelsey Deloney, who was named to the All-Tournament Team in 2017, after Belmont's first postseason appearances in program history.
The first baseman was electric at the plate, leading the sixth-seeded Bruins, batting .444 with four hits, including a pair of homeruns and six RBI. Thomas finished the tournament with a 1.111 slugging percentage and a .444 on-base percentage.
Thomas, who helped BU to it second-ever postseason victory with a 7-0 drubbing of No. 7 UT Martin on the first day of the tournament, broke the contest wide open with a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning. In the Bruins's second game, she went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI against No. 3 Austin Peay. The native of Hot Springs, Ark., wrapped the tournament trip with a solo homerun against No. 5 Eastern Kentucky in the consolation bracket, going 1-for-3 in the duel.
