MACON, Ga. – Juniors Renato Antun (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Natalia Nunes (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) were named to the first Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team for men's and women's tennis, respectively, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon.
Each team is comprised of eight members based on both academic and athletic performance. A cumulative GPA of 3.3 is required to be considered for the honor, while excelling on the court also helps the individual's case.
Antun, a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, played at the number one position at both singles and doubles for the Bruins this season. He finished the year with 11 singles wins and 14 doubles wins. He currently ranks ninth in Belmont's Division I history in career singles wins with 44. A double major in Finance and Accounting, Antun carries of GPA of 3.70.
During the 2011-12 season, Nunes ranked second on the team in singles (10) and doubles wins (6). For her career, she has ranked either first or second on the team in singles during her first three seasons as a Bruin. The two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete currently holds a 3.63 GPA while majoring in International Business.
