NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team hits the court this weekend with two matches, a home match with Stonehill College on Thursday and a road match at North Alabama on Saturday.
The Bruins enter the weekend with a record of 5-5 after last Friday's 5-2 loss to Lipscomb, which snapped a two-match win streak for BU.
Freshman Peyton Lee leads the Bruins with a 10-8 singles record, which includes a 6-4 mark in the spring. She has won six of her last eight singles matches.
The doubles duo of sophomore Erin Allen and freshman Lauren Carelli are pacing BU with a 7-3 record and have won their last two matches. Sophomores Terra Sheldon and Maria Plaksina are 6-5, but are undefeated in spring play at 5-0.
The first opponent of the weekend is Division III Stonehill College. Located in Easton, Massachusetts, the Skyhawks are 13-2 on the season and are ranked #2 in the ITA Division III East Region. In their last match, they fell to Babson College 7-2 on February 24.
Saturday's opponent is North Alabama. The Lions, in their first year of Division I, are 3-6 and lost to MTSU 7-0 in their last match on March 2nd.
Thursday's match with Stonehill is set for 5:00pm at Centennial Sportsplex, while Saturday's tilt with UNA is scheduled for 1:00pm in Florence, Alabama.
