Taming the Redhawks

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Belmont women's tennis team defeated Southeast Missouri State, 4-3, for their second straight conference win of the season.  

The Bruins took the doubles point after defeating the Redhawks at the one and three positions. Erin Allen and Peyton Lee defeated Kseniya Zonova and Sneha Sinha 6-4 at No. 1, while Maria Plaksina and Terra Sheldon defeated Romana Tarajova and Anais Emelie 6-4 at three.  

The Bruins took three of the six matches in singles to clinch the match win. At position three, Allen defeated Isabella Krupa 6-3, 6-3.  Then at four, Plaksina defeated Teona Velkoska 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.  The match was clinched for BU at number five as Sheldon defeated Emelie 6-4, 6-4. 

With the win, the Bruins improved their record to 9-6, 2-1 in the OVC.  

The Bruins will continue OVC play against Eastern Illinois on Friday, April 5 at Centennial Sportsplex.
