NASHVILLE, TENN. – The Women's Tennis team will conclude their regular season this weekend with the two matches. The Bruins face Jacksonville State on Friday and play at Austin Peay on Saturday.
After defeating Tennessee State last weekend, the Bruins improve to a 12-6, their most wins since the 2003-04 season. They are also on a five match winning streak, their longest from that same 2003-04 season. In addition, the Bruins stand second in the standings for the Ohio Valley Conference.
Erin Allen holds the best singles record in the dual season. Allen holds an 11-7 record while Peyton Lee is right behind her at 10-8. In doubles, Maria Plaksina and Terra Sheldon are still holding strong at No. 3 doubles with an 11-1 record.
The Gamecocks have a 12-3 season record and have won their last three matches in a row against Murray State, UT Martin and SEMO. This is the sixth time the Bruins and Gamecocks have faced each other in the regular season. JSU leads the series 5-1. Friday's match is set for at 3 p.m. at Ensworth High School.
On Saturday, the Bruins face OVC leader APSU for the final match of the regular season. The Governors are 7-0 in conference play and are undefeated, 19-0, in the spring season. The last time the Bruins defeated the Govs was in 2015. The match is set for 2 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.
