NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University women's track & field will compete in the 2019 OVC Outdoor Championships this weekend at Southeast Missouri.

The Bruins, who placed sixth at conference indoors in February, are primed to challenge for individual and team podiums.

Leading the way is senior and past NCAA regional qualifier Karly Hibbard (Edmonds, Wash.) in the javelin. The reigning OVC Champion, Hibbard enters with the top qualifying mark in the league again this year.

All-OVC First Team distance runner Kortney Schardt (Lindenhurst, Ill.) could vie for honors in the 5000m and 1500m, while sophomore Jessica Mattsson (Tierp, Sweden) is the favorite in hammer throw.

Other Bruins vying for high points and medals - based on qualifying times and marks - include sophomore Payton Barlow (White House, Tenn.) (400m), sophomore Maja Gustafsson (Vasteras, Sweden) (javelin) and sophomore Ruth Wiggins (Memphis, Tenn.) (800m).

The 2019 OVC Outdoor Championships will be streamed live and on demand via ESPN+ with live results posted on ovcsports.com and Belmont twitter.
