NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Volleyball returns to the friendly confines of the Curb Event Center this week to open a three-match homestand and conclude non-conference play. The Bruins (9-8, 4-2 OVC) host longtime foe Lipscomb (8-9, 2-3 A-Sun) in the annual Battle of the Boulevard match on Tuesday evening.
Lipscomb has only won two of its last six outings now that it has jumped into league play in the Atlantic Sun. The Bisons now stand at 8-9 overall and are 2-3 in conference play. LU is led in kills by Carlyle Nusbaum, who has recorded 293 and hits at a .230 clip. Assist duties are shared by Morgan Elmore and Marcella Emmanuelli, who have notched 362 and 348, respectively. Brittany Thomas leads the defensive effort with a total of 245 digs.
Belmont holds the advantage in the all-time series, 26-15, but Lipscomb has won each of the last four duels.
Belmont will conclude non-conference play with the annual Battle of the Boulevard duel, after splitting over the weekend in OVC play. BU now stands at 9-8 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Senior Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.) leads the team in kills with a total of 215. Freshman Akia Warrior (Fort Worth, Texas) leads the team in assists (319) while senior Ellie Ivancich (Naperville, Ill.) heads up the defensive effort, logging 179 digs. Ivancich is followed by Person and senior Emily Richards (Penfield, N.Y.), who have contributed 155 and 142 digs, respectively. Junior Alexa Nichols (Walton, Ky.) has tallied five solo blocks and is second in block assists with a total of 42 while freshman Mackenzie LePage (Franklin, Tenn.) has posted a team-leading 48 block assists. Ivancich leads the team in service aces with a total of 19.
