NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Volleyball opens its longest homestand of the season this weekend in the Curb Event Center. The Bruins (0-16, 0-4 OVC) host Morehead State (12-5, 3-1 OVC) on Friday night before taking on Eastern Kentucky (3-13, 2-2 OVC) on Saturday afternoon for a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches.
MSU comes to Nashville on the heels of its three-match win streak being snapped on the road last week. The loss moves the Eagles to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in OVC play. Morehead State is led in kills by Olivia Lohmeier, who has tallied 201. Allison Whitten leads in digs with a total of 231. Chandler Clark leads the team in assists with a total of 647. Danielle McCarson has recorded 25 service aces to lead MSU.
Belmont has a slim 7-6 lead in the all-time series with the Eagles and have won the last three matchups.
Eastern Kentucky travels to Music City looking to break a two-match skid that has the team standing at 3-13 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Cassie Knutson and Lindsey Wilkins lead the Colonels in kills with totals of 176 and 150, respectively. Rachel Woody leads WKU in assists with a total of 341. Chloe Rojas leads the team in digs with a total of 258.
The Bruins lead the all-time series, 9-6. The programs have split the last four meetings.
BU will look to post its first conference win of the season this weekend. Senior Maggie Mullins (Nashville, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in kills with a total of 124 followed by freshman Taylor Floyd (Louisville, Ky.), who has contributed 90. Freshman Carly Mason (Forsyth, Ill.) leads in assists with a total of 280. Senior Haley Sullivan (Lemont, Ill.) leads in service aces with a total of 13. Sullivan also leads in digs with a total of 122 followed by senior Tori Simmons (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), who had added 107.
