Two on the Road

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Volleyball remains in the hunt for more Ohio Valley Conference victories when it hits the road this weekend for a pair of matches. The Bruins (2-18, 2-6 OVC) travel to Southeast Missouri State (13-8, 5-3 OVC) on Friday night before rounding out the road trip with a stop at in-state rival UT Martin (9-12, 3-5 OVC) on Saturday afternoon.

Southeast Missouri will look to get back to its winning ways after having its three-match win streak halted with a loss last weekend. The Redhawks now stand at 13-8 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Laney Malloy leads the team in kills with a total of 277 while Claire Ochs leads in assists with a total of 841. Three players have notched over 200 digs, led by Ally Dion's 295. Ochs and Malloy round out the category, adding 263 and 230, respectively. Ochs also leads the team in service aces with a total of 27.

Belmont leads the all-time series, 6-3, and has won five of the last six matchups.

UT Martin recently snapped a three-match skid with a win to close last week. The Skyhawks now stand at 9-12 overall and 3-5 in OVC play. Hannah Phillips and Megan Fair lead the team in kills with 206 and 203 recorded, respectively. UTM's leader in assists is Kenzie Hinshaw who has tallied 664. Brooke Gyori leads the team in digs with a total of 419.

The Racers hold the advantage in the all-time series, 8-4, and have won the last two matchups.

BU will look to build on its successes from the previous weekend when it hits the road. Senior Maggie Mullins (Nashville, Tenn.) leads the Bruins in kills with a total of 159 followed by freshman Taylor Floyd (Louisville, Ky.), who has contributed 139.  Freshman Carly Mason (Forsyth, Ill.) leads in assists with a total of 356 while sophomore Akia Warrior (Ft. Worth, Texas) has recorded 228. Warrior leads in service aces with a total of 15 with senior Haley Sullivan (Lemont, Ill.) right behind with a total of 14.  Sullivan also leads in digs with a total of 164 followed by senior Tori Simmons (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), who has added 143.

Friday's match is set to begin at 6 p.m. while Saturday afternoon's contest is set for a 2 p.m. start.  Live stats will be available. Friday's match can be seen live on the OVC Digital Network.  Fans may also follow the team's Twitter account (@BelmontVB) for live, in-game updates.
