NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University Athletics announced Friday the resignation of volleyball head coach Tony Howell.
"I want to thank Tony for his years of service and commitment to Belmont University," Belmont director of athletics Scott Corley said. "Tony is a man of utmost character and I wish him the best in his next endeavor."
Howell served as head coach for five seasons, posting a 71-79 record as Belmont claimed the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship.
He previously spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Belmont under Deane Webb.
Associate athletic director/senior woman administrator Renee Schultz and assistant coach Karlee Lursen will oversee the volleyball program on an interim basis.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
