TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Belmont women's cross country team continued to blaze a trail through its 2015 campaign. The Bruins placed 11th overall at the hotly contested Crimson Classic on Friday evening.
The Bruins finished just over one second out of a 10th place finish. Even still, BU held its own against two nationally ranked teams and seven of the top-15 teams in the USTFCCCA South Region.
Undaunted by a field of 29 programs, including two nationally ranked and seven regionally ranked teams, BU on to place three runners in the top-100. Sophomore Jessica King (Fishers, Ind.) led the Bruins, taking 44th in a field of 260, with a time of 18:05.30. Right behind her were junior Hannah Denton (Burns, Tenn.) and freshman Mallory Young (Signal Mountain, Tenn.), who placed 85th and 96th, respectively.
Belmont returns to action on October 31 at the OVC Championship.
