NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's cross country team will look to build upon its strong fall season at the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Championship held this weekend in Murray, Ky.
One year ago, the Bruins finished third overall after seeing a pair of harriers place in top-15 of competitors. Hannah Wittman (Lindenhurst, Ill.) took second overall, followed by Jessica King (Fishers, Ind.) in 11th.
BU has finished among the top-four teams each year of competing in the OVC Championship. Eastern Kentucky women's team, who has won eight of the last nine championship titles, is once again the event's favorite.
Seven of the Bruin harriers bring championship race experience in this weekend's event, including Wittman, who earned All-OVC First Team honors last year, and Jessica King (Fishers, Ind.), who was tabbed All-OVC Second Team.
The BU women's team heads into the championship, standing 11th in the South Region in the latest USTFCCCA rankings.
The championship 5K race will be fielded at the Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky., and will be hosted Murray State. The women's race is set to begin at 9 a.m. CT.
