NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Friday academic honors for the 2015 cross country season . Belmont women's cross country earned Division I All-Academic team honors while senior Hannah Wittman (Lindenhurst, Ill.) garnered individual All-Academic recognition and stands the only female student athlete to garner the honor in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Seven OVC women's teams earned All-Academic team status for the 2015 cross country season from the USTFCCCA. Two-hundred and five women's teams had at least one All-Academic runner. To qualify, teams had to have a cumulative 3.00 GPA or greater.
Wittman was among 160 women in Division I who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. She is also only one of eight student athletes from colleges and universities in the state of Tennessee to earn the honor. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and have finished in the top 25 finishers (or 10 percent) at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet.
