NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University director of cross country Jeff Langdon released the program's fall 2018 schedule Tuesday.
Women's cross country, boasting 17 consecutive regional Top 15 rankings in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll and seven conference championships, return All-OVC runner Kortney Schardt to a Bruin squad coming off a third conference runner-up finish and fifth top 3 in six seasons.
"Our women return a nice mix of experience and youthful enthusiasm, and Coach Bucknam and I carry high hopes into the fall," Langdon said.
After traditional icebreaker meets in the Belmont Opener (Aug. 31) and Commodore Classic (Sept. 15), the Bruins venture into Illini Country for an assembly of the nation's best.
"Our ladies will go to Bradley University (Oct. 12), which has proven to be a very fast course with high-quality competition," Langdon added. "The field typically has a blend of Big East, Missouri Valley and Mid-American programs - all with national profiles. This race should serve our team well heading into the OVC conference championship."
The 2018 OVC Championships will be held Oct. 27, hosted by Southeast Missouri.
13 days later, the Bruins and their area rivals will descend upon Florida State University for the NCAA South Region meet.
The NCAA National Championship meet is slated for Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Belmont ranked 14th in the final 2017 USTFCCCA South Region poll.
